Success in Social Media - Those who shout or those who add value?

November 17th, 2008 · No Comments

Interest is building in Australia around how to use Social media. Two schools of thought exist.

Firstly, one where those with the loudest voices tend to set the agenda. Is this any different from the off line world?

Secondly, one where those who say the most interesting things set the agenda. Again, is this any different from the off line world?

The questions is, which kind of person are you, or which kind of person do you follow?

I think it is good to mix it up and follow some people from each camp. That way you can learn from their experience and sort out the quality from the noise.
So if there is some worth following, then lets share them and promote them.

Ad tech Sydney - user driven schedule

November 4th, 2008 · No Comments

Ad Tech has launched a “brain” that enables the consumers to dictate what kind of material they want to be covered during the sydney conference. The Ad Tech Brain, as it is called, turns the questions over to the consumers and whilst this is helpful and useful to ensure that Ad Tech will hit what the market wants, I suspect that the role of industry leading conferences is greater than just meeting market demands, rather conferences should lead and help set and solidfy the industry direction.

That said, i will still be putting my two cents into the mix to ensure that we get some deep and insightful revelations and let me encourage you, that if you want to influence the agenda and topics covered, then let it be known at the

Wings that make you feel like you can fly.

Fun times had by all at the annual sculptures by the sea on the Bondi to Bronte walk. Plenty of great art and on a cracking sydney saturday made for an enjoyable day.

Loads of people are already sharing their photos on Flickr: Sculptures by the Sea

Two jobs - Costello on World Bank corruption committee

September 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

Peter Costello has a new part-time job. Interestingly at the World Bank. One wonders though, as the world bank increasingly struggles for relevance, what this role will involve? Peter comments that it will be resolving corruption disputes within development projects. What is happening to the number of development projects is still not clear, however, either way, removing corruption has to be supported as a noble task.

So good luck Pete, hold the line, smile a little more and keep your hands clean.

Change - leadership - management

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Change is what we all resist and yet without it, nothing will advance. Change causes somethings to be left behind and new things to be added

Management is ensuring expected results are achieved from known levels on input

Leadership is about engaging in strategic change to ensure new possibilities can be reached

Stephanie Rice beats Eamon Sullivan online

August 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Google Insights reveals that winning Gold or Silver can have a significant impact on the number of people that are interested in you. Or maybe it has a little more to do with “marketability” of the individuals in question. Again, I believe, that this is tied to both olympic performance and off-field antics.

Interestingly, both Rice and Sullivan were not on the public radar in late July. However, come Olympics, they are on the radar loud and clear.
